Since 2008, Alicante has been the starting port for all editions of the Ocean Race regatta, and it will do so again at the next two. The Ocean Race Museum is in its port area; it’s an interactive space open to all, telling the story of Spain’s 41 years’ participation in the world’s toughest regatta have been.
Would you like to visit a boat used in the Ocean Race? In the museum you will be able to see up close the boat Brasil 1, a VO70 model which participated in the 2005-2006 edition of the Round the World Race.
Would you like to experience the regatta as if you were a member of the crew? Then get on the virtual simulator to feel what it’s like to sail at 25 knots aboard a competition vessel.
The visit includes access to the regatta Control Room, whence the boats are followed during the competition; it’s an innovative technology and satellite communication centre. It also offers a comprehensive programme of free educational workshops to raise awareness about protection of the oceans, and to show human effort involved in this sporting challenge.
